Libraries and Lyrasis Learning

The SU Libraries has a new subscription benefit with Lyrasis Learning. There is no fee for using their resources and/or registering for their live and online classes. This benefit offers Libraries’ staff a continuing education platform that provides access to their entire catalog of archived training and unlimited live and online classes. Please take a moment to review the links and available resources in this message from Lyrasis Learning.

Lyrasis Learning specialties include digitization, electronic resources, evergreen ILS, metadata, open access content, preservation, repository services, training and consulting, technology for libraries and cultural heritage organizations, archives, special collections, hosting services, library services, library consortium, research. 

 

Libraries’ Professional Development Requests

Libraries’ employees are eligible to identify a need and submit a request(s) for a professional development opportunity (trainings, webinars, conferences, workshops, etc.). Requests should be submitted whether an expense will be incurred or not. The program is administered via a professional development review committee and supported by Employee Services.  See the below for more details.

  • Submitting a Request: See the professional development request process for more details on submitting a professional development request. Employees should discuss their anticipated professional development needs with their supervisor/department head prior to submitting the request(s). All requests for the entire year should be submitted via the online request form.

Events and Workshops

In addition to the many professional development opportunities available, the Libraries will also consider coordinating events or workshops we run ourselves using in-house Libraries or University talent, or suggestions for workshops or experts we could bring to campus to train us.
