Here are a couple of research profiles that can be set up now as PhD students and built upon as faculty:

ORCID ORCID is a freely available tool for researchers. It offers a unique research identifier, which is especially significant if you have the same or similar name as other researchers. Use of ORCID is now strongly encouraged or required by many funding organizations and publishers.
Google Scholar Citations Google Scholar has a research profile feature for scholars called Google Scholar Profile, which tracks works and their impact based on Google Scholar data. Setting up a profile requires a Gmail account.
