1. Connecting your profiles is a one-time setup.
2. Experts@Syracuse and ORCID have a two-way data flow. As research and creative works are added to one profile, the other profile is automatically updated with that publication.
3. Less manual entry of your publications is needed as well as less time involved in having to update both profiles.
4. Both profiles will be more robust and current, which is valuable for research activity such as tenure and promotion and grant proposals.
5. Once connected, your ORCID will be visible on your Experts@Syracuse profile as an additional source of information.
Experts@Syracuse to ORCID:
When a new research output is added to your Experts@Syracuse profile, the connection that was set up will automatically send the same content to your ORCID profile.
ORCID to Experts@Syracuse:
When a new work is added to your ORCID profile, the connection that was set up will automatically send the same content to your Experts@Syracuse profile.
ORCID and Experts@Syracuse profiles are updated weekly with any new research and creative works.
Steps to Connect:
If you do not already have an ORCID profile, click here to obtain one.
1. Go to Experts@Syracuse.
2. Click Edit Profile
3. Click Personal on the Personal tab
4. Click Edit Profile to open the Metadata window.
5. In the ORCID section, there will be a link, Connect to ORCID.
6. The prompt Connect with your ORCID will appear, explaining what the connection will offer you. Click Proceed. This action will direct you to ORCID.org.
7. Enter your ORCID login at the next prompt.
8. From the affiliation list drop-down menu, select Syracuse University to enable your current affiliation.
9. Click Authorize export to ORCID. You will be redirected to the Metadata section of your Experts@Syracuse profile.
10. At the bottom of the window, click the blue Save button to save your changes.
