C. Inform
The new employee should receive Libraries’ information and procedures, along with resources to help build their knowledge. This step involves orientation from Libraries’ departments and the new employee’s home department. See below for more details.
- Libraries’ Departments Orientation
On the first day and first week, the new employee meets with several departments:
- Welcome team #1 (first day)
On the first day, the following departments/people meet in-person with the employee:

- Employee Services (Christine, Susan)- To provide Libraries’ orientation which should give the new employee perspective on where they are at in the process, location of Libraries’ information, and the role of various positions/departments.
- Facilities (Tom) – To discuss building access, emergency procedures, and gives office keys.
- IT Computer (TBD) – To discuss computer, file access, and phones with supervisor; provides overview to employee.
- Supervisor (TBD) – To review the ‘Cuse Colleague
- Welcome team #2 (first week)
During the first week, the following departments/people meet with (or reach out to via email) the new employee:
- Budget and Business Office (TBD) – To provide overview of services.
- ‘Cuse Colleague (TBD)– Assigned employee to meet and answer questions.
- Dean’s Office Staff (Liz)- To set up name tag, and if needed, business cards.
- IT Accessibility (Corrine) – To discuss accessibility practices.
- Marketing and Communications (Cristina) – To discuss marketing and communications processes.
- Project Management (Andrew) – To give building tour and record the employee’s room number and key number in database.
On the employee’s first day, the supervisor should greet the new employee. They should meet with the employee to review the ‘Checklist for Supervisors, which includes department information and procedures, the training plan, meetings with co-workers, and their itinerary.
