Instead of meeting for your regular class session, your assigned participation this week is to attend the campus or community event that you signed up for on CuseActivities.
Details instructions for Shared Experience registration are included in the box below.
One of the goals of this course is for students to foster a greater sense of connection and community during their first semester at Syracuse University. As part of this goal, the FYS 101 Shared Experience is an experiential learning opportunity for students to explore a campus or community resource outside of the classroom during week 4 of the semester. Based on student feedback, you will be able to select your Shared Experience!
There are many resources and engagement opportunities across campus and in the community. The FYS 101 Shared Experience gives you the chance to dip your toes in and experience one of those opportunities, showcasing the benefits of participating in new spaces and interacting with other students and community members outside of classes.
Instructions for registration:
To register for your FYS 101 Shared Experience, you will need to log into your CuseActivities portal. (If you would like, you can also download the mobile app to complete this process on your smart device.)
Once you access the CuseActivities portal, you will have a “path” for First Year Seminar that will showcase only activities offered during your section of FYS 101. Students should RSVP for only one Shared Experience offered during your section time, and should not be added to any waitlist for events. (There will be no waitlist openings, as we only have enough space for the number of students in each section.)
If you are nervous about attending your Shared Experience alone, feel free to talk to your fellow students and explore mutual interests, so you can register and attend together!
