Mendeley Cite add-in for Microsoft Word

Mendeley Cite add-in for Word includes tools that allow users to insert references from their Mendeley library directly into their Microsoft Word document. 

Mendeley Cite can be used without having the Mendeley reference manager open or installed. It allows you to insert individual or multiple references and automatically create a bibliography from the citations you've inserted.

Mendeley Cite works in: Word on iPad, Word 2016 or later on Windows, Word 2016 or later on Mac, Word on the web.

  • Downloaded citations from your Mendeley library cloud, without having Mendeley Desktop or Mendeley Reference Manager open or installed.
  • Search for references in your Mendeley library and insert them into Word
  • Select and insert individual or multiple references at once
  • Create edits to your references within your citations
  • Create a bibliography from all the references you've cited
  • Change to any of your citation styles, including custom styles
     

Installing Mendeley Cite

Before installing Mendeley Cite, Syracuse University faculty, students, and staff must request permission for their Microsoft Office 365 accounts.
Please follow the instructions below to request access and install Mendeley Cite: 

Requesting Mendeley Cite via My Access

  1.  To request access to Mendelty Cite, copy and paste the following link into a web browser: 
    https://myaccess.microsoft.com/@sumailsyr.onmicrosoft.com#/access-packages
  2. If you are not already logged into your Syracuse University account, you will be asked to log in with your NetID.
  3. Locate the following package App-Mendeley Reference Manager and click on the Request link

  4. Click Continue and enter "Research support" In the Additional questions box, then click Submit Request

  5. Once the request is submitted and approved, the package will be listed as active.
  6. Next, copy and paste the following link into a web browser and click on the Get it now button: 
    https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/WA104382081
  7. Once installed, you will prompted to open Word.
