Camden HS Film Research guide (Spring 2025): Home

About this guide

This guide is designed to help focus your research in finding secondary sources for your film and stratification essay. The databases listed on this page offer access to film reviews in a variety of venues and film criticism in books, book chapters, and articles. Each of these databases has a different focus and range of content, so make sure to try a few to get a sense of what sources they might contain.

Remember to use tools in these databases to capture both the content of the articles (download, email to self) and the citation information so that you will have all you need to use the sources you locate in your essays.

If you have questions, you can ask for help from the Libraries' many support channels, or you can send an email to Patrick at jpwill03@syr.edu

Resources for researching films via our databases

Primarily scholarly and academic sources for film reviews and criticism
Mostly popular and industry sources for film reviews and coverage

Exploring ebooks in Libraries Search

The databases on this page point to lots of material that will be useful as sources, but you can also access additional ebooks, which may feature relevant sections or chapters in the general library collections via Libraries Search

If you filter by Available Online and Books/e-Books or Book Chapters, you'll find only material you can access from off-campus.

Here are some links to searches to get started--feel free to add additional keyword or concepts to narrow your search.
