Public Performance Rights

Public Performance Rights

Public performance rights or permission from the rights holder are often needed for films when shown outside of the classroom. There will likely be a charge for public performance rights, and any such fees are the responsibility of the event organizer. To obtain Public Performance Rights contact the film distributor or producer. Some films in the Libraries’ collections already include public performance rights, but you must determine this in advance of a film showing.

Syracuse University Libraries does acquire video with educational performance rights. For information about using video in the classroom please see the Using Film and Video – Instructional Use section of this guide.
