ArcGIS Software Access

This guide describes SU's ArcGIS license and how to access Esri's ArcGIS products from on and off campus. Plus some FAQs about managing your account.

ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online

Extensions included as part of the Professional Plus user type:

  1. 3-D Analyst - visualizing your information in 3D
  2. Data Reviewer - automates, simplifies, and improves data quality control workflows to enable the delivery of geospatial data
  3. Geostatistical Analyst - Compare and better interpret geostatistical results to predict and model spatial phenomena
  4. Image Analyst - for advanced image interpretation, exploitation, and geospatial analysis
  5. LocateXT - this is entity extraction software for analysis of unstructured data
  6. Network Analyst - used for developing strategic routing plans
  7. Publisher - Transform projects into portable digital maps and datasets to share with others
  8. Spatial Analyst - an advanced spatial modeling and analysis tool to help model terrains, find suitable locations,routes or discover spatial patterns.
  9. Workflow Manager - streamlines production processes by automating and simplifying the performance and management of work across an organization

Also the following extensions are added to the user type:

  1. Business Analyst - for market planning, site selection, and customer segmentation by combining demographic, business, lifestyle, spending, and census data with map-based analytics
  2. Data Interoperability (ask for software) - ability to move data among hundreds of systems and apps across the boundaries of geography, format, storage technology, and connectivity (delivers geospatial integration to all your systems)
  3. StreetMap Premium (ask for software) - provides offline, enriched street data for use in ArcGIS software
  4. Bathymetry - (ask for software) enables quick generation of custom bathymetric surfaces through targeted data selection

ArcGIS StoryMaps

StoryMaps can be used for classroom and personal purposes and can also be integrated with both ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

There are two ways to sign in to use StoryMaps.

  1. The first is through SU's StoryMaps site. Once logged in click on the, sign In through the "ArcGIS StoryMaps" button.
  2. The second way to access StoryMaps is to login through your ArcGIS Online account. Click on the series of 9 dots in the upper right-hand corner and click on the StoryMaps Icon.

Esri Academy

If you are logging through SU's ArcGIS organization's URL Type "syruniv" into the box, without the quotes.

The Esri Academy is available through SU's site license where you can take any number of FREE courses, webinars or recorded classes. To see a list go to the "CATALOG" tab on the top row and then mouse over to the “Course Catalog” and make sure to click the two check boxes that say “Maintenance Subscription” and "Free" . This will allow you to access many more FREE courses available to you through our license.

Then search for classes you want to take. Add the ones you want to your “wish list” by clicking on the little heart next to the course title.

Click on “My Academy” and then “My Wish List” to get to the courses you have saved or are in the process of taking.

Look on the "RESOURCES" tab on the left for courses to start learning ArcGIS Pro, Online and StoryMaps.
