Disability Pride Month is typically celebrated in July to commemorate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ACA) on July 26, 1990. Syracuse University celebrates Disability Pride Month during the month of April to honor, recognize, and highlight the history, achievements, and experiences of the disability community.
Celebrating Disability Pride Month raises awareness of disability issues and the diverse experiences of disabled people, promotes inclusion of individuals with disabilities, and challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about disability.
