Step #3 -- Evaluate the content

Consider the following questions to decide whether to include a particular source:

Things to Consider

What are the author's credentials
What is his/her affiliation? Can you determine it?
What is the author's expertise?

Currency When was the source published?
Is it outdated?
Does it meet the time needs of your topic?

Does the author cite credible sources?
Does the author cite sources properly?
Is there evidence of scholarly research?

Intended audience Who is the intended audience? General public? Other scholars?
            Objective/Purpose             What is the author's goal?  To inform?  To entertain? To influence opinion?
Relevancy Is the source relevant to your topic?
Does it provide any new information about your topic?
