Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB)

This site provides information on the activities, goals, and application process for the Student Library Advisory Board at Syracuse University.

What is the Student Library Advisory Board?

The Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB) is an open forum for students to voice their concerns, ideas, and feedback regarding library-related issues. It’s our way of inviting students to make their voices heard, engage in a community of peers from across the University, and highlight areas for the library to improve.

We meet over lunch every month during the Fall and Spring academic terms. Sign-up here to get involved, or reach out to Natalie with questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the feedback used?

SLAB's recommendations help to incorporate student needs and concerns as they relate to library services, resources, and spaces. Feedback is always anonymized and only shared with library administration.

Who is able to join?

We welcome membership from all Syracuse University schools and colleges, majors, and years. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to participate, and it looks great on a resume!

When and where does the SLAB meet?

Meetings are held every 3 weeks during the Fall and Spring semesters. Remote meetings are held over Zoom, and in-person meetings take place in Bird Library, Room 004 (Spector Seminar Room).

I am an online/distance student. Can I still participate?

Absolutely! Please send an email to the SLAB Facilitator, Natalie LoRusso (ncloruss@syr.edu) and she will help you get involved from wherever you are.
