Identifying Journals for Publication

Questions to Consider

  1. Narrow your list to a handful, 3 to 5 journals, that could be a potential match, then rank that list based on your goals and input from others
  2. Consult with your co-authors about their publishing goals and which journals they prefer
  3. Talk to your colleagues or mentors about your "short" list of journals to get their opinions
  4. Reach out to someone you know who has published in these journals to ask questions about their experience
  5. Look at the editorial board and journal reviewers for the journals of interest to see if you know anyone
  6. Check to see if there are any calls for special issues or for specific research topics/areas from the journal
