Finding Articles in ProQuest

ACTIVITY: Complete the following tasks:

  1. Read the "What is ProQuest?" information to learn where you can find ProQuest on the Libraries' website
  2. Read the "Tips for Finding Articles in ProQuest" for advice on locating articles
  3. Watch the "Getting Started with ProQuest Searching" video
  4. Answer the questions in Part 2B of your worksheet

What is ProQuest?

ProQuest is a multi-disciplinary database that provides access to thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, dissertations, and other publications. Because ProQuest encompasses many different subject areas, it is a good place to start your search!

On the SU Libraries homepage, select the Databases A-Z page. ProQuest is located under the "Starting Points" heading on the right-hand side of the page.

Tips for Finding Articles in ProQuest

If you are using a database such as ProQuest, linking out to the actual article may not be obvious. Follow these steps:

  1. If there is no full-text or PDF link for the article, use the to take you to the full-text.
  2. Also use  for requesting your article via Interlibrary Loan for the fastest service.  This is a free service that will obtain articles, books, and other materials for you.
  3. Try finding the full-text article via Google, Google Scholar, or Summon if the SULinks fails.
