Using SU Libraries

Syracuse University Libraries are here to help support your personal and academic success

Research Starting Points

Wondering where to start your research at SU Libraries? Confused by all of the resources and services that we offer? You're not alone! After all, SU Libraries offers access to approximately a billion resources, and it can feel completely overwhelming to try and figure out which resources best fit your information needs. This first short video will introduce you to some of the most helpful resources that can help you achieve academic success.

Searching with Summon

Summon is the primary tool for searching collections at SU Libraries, including our physical collections and the hundreds of online databases that we offer. With Summon, you can search the Library website for books, videos, articles, and much more.

Finding Journal Articles

In a lot of search tools, including Summon and many databases, there are options for refining your search built into the results screens. Once you conduct your initial search, you can narrow down the results by subject, publication date, source type, and other features.

If you can't find at SU Libraries the resources you need, you can submit a request for it through our Interlibrary Loan service. This is a free service that allows you to borrow books, articles, and other materials from partnering libraries.
