Faculty Resources for Online Teaching

Guide for faculty delivering course instruction online.

Introduction

In addition to the resources already offered by SU Libraries, these resources are being offered either for free of at a reduced rate by organizations and publishers on a temporary basis as we work through the rapid transition to online instruction.

Please note that because access is temporary, these resources will not appear in the Libraries' main search box (Summon).

HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service

Syracuse University faculty, staff, and students now have temporary expanded online access to 52% of the Libraries' print collections through the University's membership to the HathiTrust. This access is possible as long as the current public health crisis keeps our physical facilities closed.

About the Emergency Temporary Access Service

  • Search available texts at https://www.hathitrust.org/.
  • Requires logon with valid Syracuse University NetID and password.
  • Allows access to authorized individuals to in-copyright titles that the library owns in print.
  • Allows reading the book online in the web browser.
  • Allows downloading of one page at a time, but not the whole book.
  • Simultaneous users are limited by the number of print copies held by the Libraries.
  • The service will deactivate when we regain access to our print collections.
