Do you need help using the Digital Library? Here are some frequently asked questions and their answers for using the IVMF Digital Library.

What is the Digital Library?

The IVMF Digital Library is a simple search engine that allows veterans and military families to locate and review helpful resources and information. It holds IVMF documents, as well as a select number of documents from outside sources. 

 

Who can access the Digital Library?

Anyone can access the Digital Library! Because the Digital Library is open access, it is available to all with no access fees or logins.

 

What can be found in the Digital Library?

The Digital Library contains IVMF-authored publications as well as several curated topical collections of useful external research, information, and resources. The Digital Library has a wide range of physical and digital materials available related to these topics, including audio and video recordings, briefs, publications, reports, and websites and webpages. 

 

How do I access the Digital Library? 

To get to the Digital Library from the IVMF homepage, click on "Digital Library" in the upper right hand corner. 

 

What is the best way to search in the Digital Library?

What types of resources are in the Digital Library?

The Digital Library has a wide range of physical and digital materials available, including audio and video recordings, briefs, publications, reports, and websites and webpages. For a full list of resource types in the Digital Library, visit the Terminology page of this guide. 

 

Who are the resources for? What are the different types of audiences?

The main identified audiences of the Digital Library include veterans and military families, private and public sector leaders, community based organizations, and researchers and scholars, but anyone is welcome to access it. 

 

How are the curated resources chosen?

The IVMF Digital Library relies on the professional judgment, expertise and skills of its staff to build its collections. To learn more, visit the About the Digital Library page to access our Collection Development Policy. 

 

How can I recommend a resource that isn't in the collection?

Please contact the IVMF Digital Library to find out how to recommend resources to the library staff. The decision for inclusion of suggested materials will be made by the IVMF Library staff. If you are interested in suggesting materials, please email divmflibrary@syr.edu.
