Art Photography

The bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree program in art photography is designed for students who plan to use photography as their primary creative medium. The faculty is committed to teaching theory, history, and practice of photography in an integrated academic and studio setting. Students are encouraged to develop their own ideas and are guided in learning the skills that will support these ideas.

Newhouse Photography Home Page

The Newhouse master's degree program in photography helps students understand the rich heritage of still photography as they explore the evolving world of multimedia storytelling. Whether your focus is on illustrative, advertising or photojournalistic storytelling/photography, you will develop a solid foundation of traditional skills needed to work at a high level in your area of interest.

Photography

Just as typography is human speech translated into what can be read, so photography is the translation of reality into a readable image. - Herbert Bayer,

There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer. - Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams

"At one with the power of the American landscape, and renowned for the patient skill and timeless beauty of his work, photographer Ansel Adams has been a visionary in his efforts to preserve this country's wild and scenic areas, both on film and on Earth. Drawn to the beauty of nature's monuments, he is regarded by environmentalists as a monument himself, and by photographers as a national institution. It is through his foresight and fortitude that so much of America has been saved for future Americans."
