Transformative Agreements and APC Coverage

Syracuse University Libraries negotiated several agreements with publishers to cover the costs of open access publishing (often called APCs) for SU-affiliated scholars. At the moment, there are agreements in place with the following:

  •  Cambridge University Press
  • Springer
  • PLOS
  • The Royal Society
  • The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
  • Institute of Physics (IOP) 
  • Wiley 
  • Company of Biologists 
  • Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
  • Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) 
  • The Plan Journal (TPJ)

APC Discounts

In addition to these agreements, SU authors are eligible for APC discounts with the following:

Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) SU Authors are eligible for a 10% discount on article processing charges for MDPI Journals. Details on MDPI APCs can be found at this link: https://www.mdpi.com/apc.

Support for Diamond Open Access Journals

Syracuse University Libraries support several diamond open access journals and publishing initiatives. Our commitment to diamond open access journals means that anyone--regardless of institutional affiliation--can publish in and read these journals for free. 

At the moment, the libraries contribute to the following diamond OA journals:
